🪪 Passport & ID photo sizes at a glance

ID photo size requirements vary by purpose. Pick one from the "Size presets" tab and it's automatically converted to pixels at 300DPI; if your photo's ratio doesn't match, a center crop fills the frame.

PurposeSize (cm)Pixels (300DPI)
Passport photo3.5 × 4.5413 × 531
General ID photo3.5 × 4.5413 × 531
Resume photo3.0 × 4.0354 × 472
US visa photo2 × 2 inch600 × 600

📐 What's the relationship between DPI and pixels?

DPI (dots per inch) is print density. Printed photos typically use 300DPI. Printing a 3.5×4.5cm passport photo at 300DPI needs about 413×531 pixels (based on 1 inch = 2.54cm). 72–96DPI is fine for screen display only, but for print it's safest to match the 300DPI pixel size.

💡 Tips for resizing

  • Shrinking barely affects quality, but enlarging a small photo makes it blurry. Start from the largest original you have.
  • Fitting a mismatched ratio into a preset crops part of the photo — keep faces centered when shooting.
  • For web uploads, pair resizing with compression for better results.

📱 SNS & web size presets

Beyond document sizes, ready-to-use SNS and web dimensions are included as presets.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shrink an image while keeping its aspect ratio?
Yes. Turn on "Keep aspect ratio" and it scales up or down within your width/height while preserving the original proportions.
Can I resize by percentage?
Yes. Use the "Percent" tab and adjust between 5–200% to scale relative to the original size.
Does resizing hurt image quality?
High-quality resampling minimizes quality loss. Shrinking preserves quality better than enlarging.
Can I resize to passport or ID photo dimensions?
Yes. Pick a preset — passport (3.5×4.5cm), resume, small ID, US visa, and more — from "Size presets" and it's converted to pixels at 300DPI. Mismatched ratios are center-cropped to fill the frame.
What happens to quality when enlarging?
Upscaling interpolates new pixels, so the image can look softer than the original. Prefer downscaling when quality matters.
Do the document presets match official requirements?
Presets follow common specs (e.g. 3.5×4.5 cm). If your submission specifies its own rules, check those first.
